Nuclear Daydream is another in a long line of bland pop albums from pretentious singer/songriter/artist Joseph Arthur.
Apparently, some people still believe that we need more pretty guys strumming guitars and singing melancholy songs. Listeners will beg to differ when they hear Nuclear Daydream.
Along with unconvincing touches of Radiohead, Badly Drawn Boy, Jon Brion, and bad ’70s Rolling Stones- and even a song about working-class people (I wonder what would happen if the hipster Arthur walked into a working-class bar?)- listeners may, as the title suggests, begin to daydream.

I am sure Jo would be amused at being called “pretty” - charismatic, yes, but pretty?!
As for ‘bland’ - Joseph Arthur played at our venue in Tregaron in 2002 and demonstrated a unique talent of musicianship and incredible songwriting - he is not only a fantastic lyricist but his melodies are outstanding, and all his albums are distinctive. His songwriting of that quality is a very rare talent that has not been recognised enough, especially not in the UK.
Hey, that’s the wonderful thing about people. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
#1) Any guy who goes by “Jo” gives me the “pretty” vibe.
#2) “Pretty” and “charismatic” aren’t really related terms.
