Various Artists – Jonny Greenwood Is the Controller

2007, Sanctuary Trojan US

Despite the diverse track selection, Jonny Greenwood Is the Controller has a very cohesive feel, and is perfect accompaniment to, uh, chilling.

In recent interviews surrounding their as-yet-untitled and unreleased seventh LP, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood has proclaimed his love of dub reggae, and stated that he listens almost obsessively to obscure music from the island of Jamaica.

This is Greenwood’s newest project, a compilation album selected by Greenwood himself from the vaults of the legendary Trojan record label. The record is fantastic, with the sounds on CD jumping from the straight-up reggae of “Dread is the Controller” by Linval Thompson that opens the CD, to the 50s-influenced doo wop of “Let Me Down Easy” by Derrick Harriott.
