Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace

Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace
2007, RCA

This record is interesting, although a little front heavy.

The first single, “The Pretender” is a strong opener, but if you listen to pop radio, it’s probably already tired, and that’s fine; better things are to come, for instance, the next four songs.

Tracks like “Erase/Replace” and “Long Road to Ruin” are high points. They are heavy hitters and “classic” Foo, but while it’s nice to hear something familiar, it’s disappointing at the same time.

The Foo Fighters have done very little to further the style that made them famous. The rest of the album is a blend of arena-ready anthems and soaring melodies, along with finger picked acoustics, blues riffs, and vocal harmonies.
