Say Hi – The Wishes and The Glitch

Say Hi - The Wishes and The Glitch
2007, Euphobia Records

Gone are concepts of vampires and robots, dry humor lyrics, and ‘Your Mom’ (“Say Hi to Your Mom” is now officially “Say Hi”).

Here are songs of disappointment and lost hopes with a pseudo-horn section bringing in a strong new layer to an electro-indie sound (see “Apples For The Innocent”).

Although Eric Elbogen’s lyrical wittiness seems to have taken a back seat, the sorrow that is portrayed in songs such as “Bluetime” add a component that’s easier to identify with. Overall, Say Hi has created a solid and mature release that is a definite upgrade from previous material. Other recommended tracks include “Oboes Bleat and Triangles Tink,” “Zero to Love,”and “Northwestern Girls.” The official release of The Wishes and the Glitch isn’t until Feb 5th, however a digital version with album art and liner notes is now available on their website (Radiohead who?).
