2007, Andor Music Company
Andor is the new project from Andy Lansangan of Southern Records’ “90 Day Men.”
The opening track, “Son of Pills,” kicks off a disc that the promo folks have aptly described as a “culmination of years of happiness, fear, depression, and loss,” and it’s hard to imagine what the hell else would inspire such an album.
The music is okay, but too often the lyrics are too melodramatic and unintentionally tongue-in-cheek. On “Damn You’re Dead,” Lansangan says “All that exists/everything you hold dear/will be taken from you/your eyeballs/your ears/your mouth/your hair/and the scalp it grew on.”
While Andor has some potential, instead of encouraging repeated listens, Mixed States may make listeners seek more successful, established records in the shoegaze genre.
