Bottom of the Barrel

With a new understanding of the McCalin campaign’s target demographic—”Wal-Mart Women,” “non-college men,” “rural voters,” or “The Lees” of America, if you will—it should come as no surprise that Texans are turning out to be ideal GOP voters.

According to a University of Texas-Austin poll, 45 percent of respondents accurately identified Barack Obama as Protestant; however 23 percent erroneously identified him as Muslim. According to the poll, Texans also overwhelmingly supported a President Palin over Biden.

I’m beginning to wonder if Texas doesn’t execute more retarded people out of indifference, but because, simply put, Texas is home to a disproportionately high number of retarded people. It’s no surprise, also, that according to the poll, most Texans refer to themselves as “Joe Case of Beer,” with a strong belief that anyone who calls himself “Joe Six Pack” is an elitist.

Interestingly, the poll numbers also say that a mere 35 percent of residents approve of President Bush’s performance. If a such a large majority of Texans dislike Bush, it’s hard to imagine that the rest of America’s approval can be anything but in the negatives.
