On December 8, Neil Young released Dreamin’ Man, a live compilation of songs from his 1992 album, Harvest Moon.
It’s just Neil and his instrument on Dreamin’ Man, so his signature sound and nostalgic lyrics take the fore—and the vocal harmonies are left for you to fill in. In a way, it’s a great re-introduction to the more layered Harvest Moon; in another way, it stands for itself as a collection of great songs that you may not have heard in a while. If Harvest Moon is like an old friend, Dreamin’ Man is like an old friend who hasn’t aged a day since you last met.
A few of the tracks are now available for streaming, including “Dreamin’ Man“, “One Of These Days“, and “Harvest Moon.” You can also visit the Warner website to purchase the album.
For a chance to win the CD, comment on this post and include your email address in the form (your email won’t be visible to the public). Three winners will be chosen at random on December 30, 2009.

I listen to the Dreamin Man available in streaming almost every day. Sounds good. Wouldn’t mind getting the album for Christmas. Keep up the good blog.
NEIL! Love this form what I’ve heard, and Dec 30 is my birthday…hope the contest knows that!
Heard this on Lala today, and it was great. A nice complement to the other solo acoustic releases!
I’m excited to hear these tracks. I saw him on this tour in Milwaukee, WI, and it was an amazing show. Great energy. Oh yeah, would love to win the album also!
lots of neil young this year
Oh my god! I love Neil Young!!
I bought this as a b-day gift for a big neil fan friend and almost kept it for myself.
Thanks for a great music site!
This site is fantastic.
This is a great accompaniment to all the recent re-releases.
I always thought that this material worked well for Neil in a live setting, so this is a nice surprise, I wonder what else he may have up his sleeve !
“Harvest Moon” was the rare sequel that equaled if not bettered, the original. Has there ever been a major artist more adventurous than Neil? Think about stylistic forays like “Old Ways”, “Trans”, “Re-Ac-Tor”, “Are You Passionate”, “Greendale”, “Landing on Water” … Sure, some of these deserve to spend eternity in a cut-out bin, but no one can ever accuse Neil of complacency.
I really enjoy the site and the podcasts. Curious about this release, it’s getting mixed reviews, but I certainly would have liked to have seen him live during this period.
Keep up the good work!
