San Diego songbird Erika Davies is looking to record a new album, and she needs some cash to do it.

The singer has taken to Kickstarter — which has served her well in the past — to raise funds for the recording of In Love With Someone. The planned album will include eight tracks, most of which will be originals with a couple of jazz standards for good measure. Local musicians Aaron Mahn, Jeremy Eikam, and Chris Carroll are all featured on the record. If all goes well, Davies plans to release In Love With Someone in September.

“If funding is successful, I’ll be tracking all songs in the beautiful San Diego Band Hall Studio of California,” Davies says. “There, they offer vintage ribbon mics and vintage recording gear which will lend that rich tone to the vein and soul of my new version of jazz.”

You can contribute to the recording of the album on Davies’ Kickstarter page, the amusing introductory video for which finds Davies having a bit of fun with her computer’s copy of Photo Booth.

Depending on how much you pledge, rewards include a retro wallet CD of the album, a signed mini-poster, and a handwritten note of thanks from Davies herself. The Kickstarter campaign ends on May 17, so if you want to give, you’d better get a move on.
