New Pornographer Carl/A.C. Newman to Play Casbah on February 25
New Pornographer Carl Newman—also known by the stage name A.C. Newman—recently told ChartAttack that his solo career and the New Pornographers are one and the same.
There’s absolutely no difference these days [between solo work and the band]…I mean, I thought there was, but immediately after we finished making Electric Version I started working on the solo record because we had all these songs that I thought wouldn’t work in The New Pornographers. And then, at the end of making Slow Wonder, my favourite songs on that record were the slower, more quiet ones. So when I went into Twin Cinema, I thought, ‘Why can’t The New Pornographers do slow, quiet songs?’ I think doing that solo album just opened things up. It made us realize that we can be whatever we feel like being.
You can see for yourself when he plays San Diego’s Casbah on Wednesday, February 25. If you can’t make it, we’ll have photos for you to prove that Newman’s all three of the people he says he is.
