Live Photos: Justin Townes Earle and Dawn Landes at the Casbah, February 26, 2011

The crowd at the sold-out Justin Townes Earle show at the Casbah on Saturday evening soaked in a set of Americana tunes along with their whiskey.

Earle’s beautiful folk songs were strung together with a mix of searingly honest life stories and smart-alek banter with the audience. With his Tennessee showmanship that brought Elvis immediately to mind, Earle managed to simultaneously woo the ladies in attendance and break their hearts.

“I’ve got a problem with women, but I’m trying to get past that,” he offhandedly remarked while tuning between songs. “Why?” several female audience members shouted. “Because I like what I’ve got,” he stated simply, “but this song isn’t about her. This song is about a woman I don’t give a fuck about.”

  1. Great show, JTE was so so good-thanks for more great pics Natalie. Oh and hey, who else developed a huge crush on Dawn Landes that afternoon? Swoon…

  2. I was there that night and right in the front! He seemed a little tired–I saw him in Madison a few weeks before and he was on FIRE. The reason I like this guy is he is straight up,no bullshit. He's got a rough edge and there is no desire to wanna hide it–for that I'm grateful! Ya get whatcha pay for and ohhhh the music is awesome!! I think of Elvis also!! Soooo talented! =)
