Pronto, a side project of Wilco’s Mikael Jorgensen, will drop All is Golden March 10 via Contraphonic Records.
Pronto is a collaboration between Jorgensen and members of Califone and Iron & Wine. Jorgensen will take Pronto on the road this summer, although the lineup will probably not include those folks.
Do you want this brand new copy of Sera Cahoone’s folksy sophomore effort Only as the Day is Long, free of charge?
Well, you may be in luck! All you have to do is email admin@owlandbear.com and be the first lucky entrant who sends his or her name and mailing address.
That’s right, the first person to email us will win the CD. This contest won’t expire until someone does so!
We’ll move on to the second entrant, and so forth, if you fail to provide a name and mailing address. We’ll also send a reply to you that says “FAIL!” and not “Congratulations!”
Update: The Sera Cahoone CD has been claimed. Thanks for playing!
Vagrant will release “You Are Here” by thenewno2 (Dhani Harrison and Oli Hecks) digitally on March 14, and physically on March 31. The will also play shows starting with February 11 in Los Angeles, followed by NYC on February 15 and 17. They’ll also appear on Conan on Feb. 17. If/when that appears on YouTube, we’ll put it online.
According to Vagrant
You Are Here was created by guitarist/synth/vocalist Dhani Harrison [son of George] and drums/synth Oli Hecks…Over the course of its creation—a process that took place outside London and inside Los Angeles—the world became a darker place, crippled by war, global warming and fiscal catastrophe.
MacWorld has the skinny on how to record to your Mac, whether it be podcasting, making music, or whathaveyou:
You can use your Mac to record late-night jam sessions, snatch work-in-progress tunes hummed into a microphone, turn the MIDI data transmitted by a keyboard or drum pad into something worth listening to, and capture LPs and convert them into samples. But to do any of these things, you’ll need to carefully consider the type of input device that will best suit your needs and help you get high-quality sounds into your Mac.
I’m really thankful that my car’s stereo has an audio input. In fact, when my old car CD player died, the #1 thing I looked for in a replacement was a 1/8″ input jack. I got a Sony stereo for $50 and it changed my entire driving experience.
But in case you don’t have the luxury, the #9 item in Lifehacker’s Top 10 Driving Tips details how to “get better sound from your iPod.”
