MP3: TV on the Radio – “Caffeinated Consciousness”

UPDATE: According to SD Dialed In this show has been postponed until May 13. The good news is that we are extending the entry deadline for this contest to May 10.

MP3: TV on the Radio – “Caffeinated Consciousness”

TV on the Radio‘s latest album, Nine Types of Light, will be released next Tuesday, April 12, and it’s full of love songs. The amorous vibe is a change of pace from the band’s usual tales of urban distress, but it doesn’t mean the Brooklyn boys have gone soft.

On the new nature of TVOTR’s new work, singer Kyp Malone says, “I like love songs…I like the forms of love songs, the poetry.” However, listeners who delve more deeply into the songs will still find Malone’s characteristic darkness, or as he puts it, “Beautiful sounding lies… ‘You’re the only one I ever loved?’ It’s a terrible thing to say to someone because it’s most likely not true.”

With that quote, it’s possible that Malone just cock-blocked millions of douchebags everywhere — but that’s not what’s important. What’s important is that TV on the Radio are about to kick off a massive tour, with plans to play San Diego’s 4th and B on May 13. To celebrate their SoCal stop, we’re giving away 5 pairs of tickets to see the show. That’s a lot of chances to win, but if you’re not the gamblin’ type, you can purchase tickets here.

For your chance to win a pair of tickets, follow these two easy steps: 1) Comment below with your favorite TVOTR lyric. 2) Email contest@owlandbear.com with your full name and mailing address. Our five favorite comments will be chosen on May 10. Go!
