Just last September, the seafarers in the Denver band Tennis had to cancel their scheduled San Diego date due to tourmate/Vaccines frontman Justin Young’s “vocal cord issues.” It looked like it would be a while before we got to feast our ears on Tennis’ breezy pop songs again, but now the band has announced a December 8 show at the Casbah. Hopefully everybody on this new tour is drinking lots of chamomile tea.
There’s still no news on a follow-up to Cape Dory, Tennis’ 2011 debut, but the band has been releasing a series of covers as free downloads, starting with “Is It True” by Brenda Lee, and now a version of “Tell Her No” by The Zombies. Check ’em out above.
UPDATE: Tennis have just announced their new album, titled Young and Old, which is set for a February 14th release on Fat Possum Records. You can stream the first single, “Origins,” here.
