Ted Leo Debuts New Song at Room 205 Session

On May 31, NJ punk (and post-punk) pioneer Ted Leo recorded a trio of solo live performances for Appleâ„¢ accessory makers Incase Designs’ Room 205 series.

Last week, Incase unveiled the first fruit of that labor, the dub-infused Brutalist Bricks track “One Polaroid a Day.” The middle part of the trilogy, a new song called “The Little Smug Supper Club,” premiered this week, and the third and final installment — the Leo classic “The Sword In The Stone” — will be posted on June 20.

“The Little Smug Supper Club,” which you can view above, sounds a lot like classic Leo: a little bit of punk, a solid pop chorus, and a heart of oak. In other words, it’s good stuff.

Past Room 205 sessions have featured La Sera, Abe Vigoda, and Avi Buffalo.

Video: Bon Iver – “Calgary”

Justin Vernon is one enigmatic fellow. It’s not always easy to decipher the poetry of his songs, but we still love to soak in the reverberant melodies and uncover the mystery of Bon Iver. Maybe one of the biggest puzzles yet is the video for his latest single, “Calgary.” It’s abstract, sultry and features a backwards bear and people falling through hidden worlds in the earth.

MP3: Mister Heavenly – “Pineapple Girl”

The supergroup has announced a 14-date tour that will bring it to Bar Pink on September 2. It’ll be crazy to see Cera play in such a small venue, but even if he doesn’t show up, the core trio of Thorburn, Kattner, and Plummer has more than enough chops to make it worth your while.

Mister Heavenly have also revealed the artwork for their forthcoming album, Out of Love, which is set for release on August 16 on Sub Pop. You can check it out, along with the rest of their tour dates, below. Continue reading…
