San Diego Rumble alumni Letting Up Despite Great Faults have released a new video for their single “Teenage Tide,” from their recently released EP, Paper Crush. It’s a dreamy video for an even dreamier song, which band mastermind Mike Lee describes as “ultimately a battle with a younger you, but your side is clouded with nostalgia and forgetting how to remember who you wanted to be.”
Check out the video above, and/or download the track over at the band’s BandCamp page.
As you can tell from the above video (and our two most recent podcasts), Unknown Mortal Orchestra takes pride in its “Ffunny Ffrends.” The psych-rock band’s upcoming tour, however, is no laughing matter. Dozens of shows in the U.S. and Canada are on the schedule, often with multiple gigs in a single state (three in MO?!, four in TX?!!, eight in CA??!!). Stream: Normandie Wilson – “Just a Little Time”
Despite having just flown in from New York, Normandie Wilson powered through an intimate set at Eleven on Thursday. The show was in celebration of her new EP, Summers Are For Lovers, but she culled songs from all corners of her discography.
The jet-lagged Wilson performed the majority of the set solo, giving her lounge-pop keys and expressive vocals plenty of room to breathe. You can check out photos of the show below, along with a video of Wilson and Lopez performing the binding ballad “Contract Between Us.” Continue reading…
As you may or may not be aware, San Diego CityBeat staff writer Dave Maass recently live-blogged, live-tweeted, live-videoed, and generally lived through the Dustball Rally, an epic three-day, 2,000-mile road rally through the Southwest:
I’m cramming myself into the backseat (multiple backseats, actually) on the Dustball 2000…Leaving El Paso at the crickety-crack of dawn Wednesday morning, the scavenger-hunt-style adventure runs along a mystery route across the American Southwest to Las Vegas.
We at Owl and Bear, among others, sponsored Dave’s doings, and that’s why we’re proud to post this video recap of his adventure, complete with a soundtrack by San Diego’s own indie rockers New Mexico. If you like what you hear — and really, why wouldn’t you — head over to Soda Bar on August 25 to see New Mexico headline this month’s SoundDiego Live event.
